A glass pendant is defined by what the glass does to the lamp. Opal and satin glass spread the light and hide the source, which makes them comfortable at eye level over a table or bed. Clear and textured glass show the source and throw patterns, and work better higher up or in a group.
Over a table, set the base 75 to 85cm above the top. A pair suits a table of up to about 180cm, and a run of three a longer one. Hanging at a bedside, the base sits about 50 to 60cm above the table.
