Virginia Cei was born in Pisa in 1992 and trained in industrial design before five years in Doha working in artisanal furniture production. She designed her first piece for Italamp in 2021, and it was selected the following year for the touring exhibition DieciDonneDesigner.
Aurora (2023) and Gocce (2025) are built around the glass sphere. Gocce, shown at Euroluce in Italamp's fiftieth year, began with the crystal-ball toys she rediscovered through her son. She describes design as 'a way of observing and caring', and both families run across enough formats to light a whole room in one language.
