The Golden Hour

Amber, honey and straw glass, which keep a room at the end of the afternoon all evening.

Amber is the most forgiving colour of glass. It warms the light below the colour temperature of the lamp, so a room reads as evening even at full output, and it flatters skin at a dining table. It also holds its colour unlit, which clear glass cannot do.

Borealis by Nava + Arosio hangs a half-disc of amber art glass above a long curved bar. Aura sets blocks of amber krek glass in a satin gold ring, 90cm across and 5cm deep. Absolute hides its structure in a drum of handmade Italian cotton above a loose bunch of glass spheres, and Chimera turns a warm honey colour once lit.

Girasole is the sunflower itself, with amber petals of glass paste. For the cool end of the day, see The Blue Hour.
