A bedroom chandelier is seen from below by someone lying down, so the underside matters more than it does anywhere else in the house. Avoid a bare lamp visible from the pillow. Crystal, satin glass or a deep shade all deal with this, and a dimmer is essential.
Most bedrooms take a smaller piece, of 45 to 70cm, centred on the room and not on the bed unless the ceiling is high. At 2.4m, choose a flush or semi-flush fitting from chandeliers for low ceilings, and leave 2.1m clear beside the bed where people walk.
