Rosè 3050/S1 Pendant

Rosè 3050/S1 is a single glass bowl, 13cm across and 30cm tall, hung from a slim metal stem. It is the original form of the Rosè collection and the one the other pieces are built from: the clusters, the linear pendant and the Maxi all multiply or enlarge this glass.

Rosè takes the silhouette of a wine glass and turns it into a lamp. The bowl is blown glass with a metallic coating, and the finishes are chosen to recall the shades of rosé wine, which the collection is named for. The S1 comes in five versions. Clear transparent glass on chrome or shiny gold shows the bowl as plain blown glass; on iron grey the glass is coated in pink gold, gold or titanium, which reflects the room when the lamp is off and glows warm through the coating when it is lit.

Danilo De Rossi has practised as an architect and designer in Venice since the 1980s. He took a master's degree in lighting design at the Milan Polytechnic, led creative direction at Leucos from 1996 to 2015 and at De Majo Murano from 1994, and has been Italamp's art director since 2016.

The S1 is small enough to use almost anywhere and is at its best in numbers. A pair either side of a bed frees the bedside table, hung so the bowl sits just above shoulder height when seated. A run of three to five over a kitchen island or a bar, spaced 30cm to 50cm apart, or a loose group at staggered heights in a stairwell, makes more of the shape than one alone. The cable adjusts from 10cm to 100cm. A single 7W tubular E14 LED lamp sits upright in each bowl; TRIAC dimming is included, and Casambi control is available.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting in Italy since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
