Stimma Pendant

One arm of Debonademeo's Stimma chandelier, hung vertically: a slim tube of coloured blown glass on a fine cable, ending in a white globe half covered by a polished metal dome. The dome throws the light downward, and the globe glows beneath it.

The dome is 22cm across, and above it the fitting is only a thin coloured line. In Peacock Blue with chrome it is crisp and graphic. In Ambra with polished gold it is warmer, and it sits comfortably with timber. The frame is either polished chrome or polished gold, and the glass is also available in Marino, Ametista, Tangerine and Clear.

The maker shows it in a row over a kitchen island, and in threes above a round dining table. That is how to use it. The short version is 55cm long with a drop of 75 to 150cm, for ordinary ceilings. The long version is 85cm with a drop of 105 to 180cm, for a taller room. Over a 240cm island, four or five at about 50cm centres look right, hung so the domes sit about 75cm above the counter.
