Airone 683/120 Chandelier

Airone is a ring chandelier of glass leaves. Each leaf is satin glass in a teak tone, and the leaves stand side by side around two gold nickel circles, one above the other, that also hold the LED source. Italamp describes it as an essential structure that revisits the glass leaf in a contemporary way.

The name is Italian for heron, and the close rows of leaves read like feathers. Because the LED sits in the rings beneath the leaves, the light travels up through the satin glass, so each leaf glows warm amber along its length while the source itself stays out of sight. A 100W module gives 12,000 lumens at a colour rendering above 90.

Airone is designed by Italamp Studio and made in two sizes, 90cm and this 120cm.

At 120cm across and 47kg, the 683/120 is a piece for a large room. It suits a dining table of 2.2m to 2.6m, a round table for ten, a drawing room or a double-height hall. The body is 34cm deep on stainless steel cables adjustable from 10cm to 100cm, so it can sit close to a standard ceiling or hang lower in a tall one: over a table, bring the lower ring to about 80cm above the top. The weight means the fixing should be designed with your electrician or structural engineer before installation. For a smaller dining room, the 90cm version keeps the same leaves at 58W.

The module is supplied non-dimmable. TRIAC, 1-10V, DALI and Casambi versions are available, which also allows Airone to be scheduled and dimmed as part of a lighting control system.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting in Italy since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
