The Night Sky

Moons, constellations and clouds, for rooms that come into their own after dark.

Several of the makers here reach for the same subject when they want a light that is more than a fitting. Muna by Danilo De Rossi is a moon in glass: a white sphere fused with crystal, with a porous surface Italamp compares to the moon's. Munetta is the same idea small enough to carry, at 26cm and without a cable.

Etoile by Christian Lava is a constellation drawn in nickel, in straight rods that cross at every angle. Stanley by Dodo Arslan is a homage to Stanley Kubrick and 2001, three blades of brushed steel 2m tall. Masiero likens Serica Dot to a quiet constellation, and Argent is a cloud made from metal.

These work best at low levels. Dim them well, and let the rest of the room drop away.
