The Library

Light to read by, and light to look at the shelves by, in a room meant for staying in.

A library needs two kinds of light, and one fitting rarely does both. Reading needs a source near the shoulder, shaded from the eye, that can be turned down. The room itself should stay low so that the shelves recede and the pool of light around the chair holds.

For the chair, Tea stands in a corner with five stems up to 180cm, and Aurora La Petite sits on a side table with no cable. Muna can hang over a reading chair. For the desk, Argent by Dodo Arslan holds the eye in daylight as much as after dark.

For the room, the maker shows Galactic in a study, in front of a wall of shelves, and Moiré by Christian Lava suits a library with good ceiling height. Stanley stands 2m tall, a piece for the end of a long wall. The five-layer lighting scheme explains how these layers fit together.
