Buying Italian lighting in the UK

Start with the maker if you know the material: Italamp for glass, Masiero for glass and fine metal, Terzani for chain and crystal, Multiforme for coloured art glass. Their profiles explain how each one works: Italamp, Masiero and Terzani.

By type, start with Italian chandeliers, pendants, wall lights, table lamps or floor lamps. How to judge a lighting house sets out the questions to ask any maker.

Caspen is an authorised UK retailer of four Italian lighting makers, each with a distinct discipline. Italamp, near Padua since 1975, is known for blown and thermoformed glass. Masiero, a family company, has kept its production at Casale sul Sile since 1981. Terzani in Florence works in chain, cast brass and crystal. Multiforme, in the Veneto, makes blown art glass.

Every piece is priced in pounds sterling, with UK VAT included, and made to order. The practical difference from buying direct is that the specification, the wiring, the drop and the delivery are handled in one place, in the UK.
