Terzani has made lighting in Tuscany since 1972, when Sergio Terzani turned his father Orlando's wrought-iron craft towards a new purpose. The early work combined hand-worked metal with carved wood and Murano glass, the three materials of Italian decorative tradition, and the company grew from a workshop into a design house without ever leaving the bench behind.

Its turn towards design came through the French designer Jean-François Crochet, whose Antinea and Phantom pieces from the 1980s and 90s are now collected as objects in their own right.

warWhat marks a Terzani piece is movement: light caught in falling metal and cascading chain, forms that read as sculpture before they read as fixtures.
