Sound 60cm Pendant

Three brushed gold rings hang together on fine cables, overlapped into a loose cluster 60cm wide, 56cm deep and only 11cm high. This is the compact Sound, and the one that asks least of a ceiling.

Inside each ring is a pale decorated glass diffuser, so you look past a band of gold to the source. Giovanni Battista Gianola's design arrived in 2017 as the first design collection Masiero made for Dimore. The company, a family business founded in 1981, does all its processing in-house.

In the room

The shallow body is the advantage. With 2.1m clear beneath it, the top of the rings is at 2.21m, so it works in a hall or on a landing under a 2.4m ceiling. Over a round table of about 100 to 120cm, hang the rings about 80cm above the top.

With three G9 lamps at 10W maximum, treat it as background light. Where you want more from it, the LED version gives 1,950 lumens up and 1,950 down. For a wider group, the Sound 120cm Pendant has twice the rings at twice the width.
