Serica Pendant

Serica is a single line of light, Ø2.5cm across, finished at the top with the small sphere and dome that Marco Zito first drew for Masiero's Nappe. Nappe took its forms from the tassels that tie back the curtains in Venetian palaces; Serica keeps only those top ornaments and draws everything below them out into a slender tube, so the tassel becomes a line. The name is the Latin word for silk, and Masiero describes the light as soft and even, like the fabric that inspired it.

Each pendant comes in three lengths, 40, 60 and 80cm, and in ten finishes. Five pair a matt deep black body with brushed galvanic details in champagne, golden bronze, copper, pure gold or dark nickel. The other five are electroplated all over in one of those brushed metals, so the whole tube catches the light. The LED sits at the base and throws its light down, leaving the body as a quiet vertical in the room.

Marco Zito designed Serica for Masiero, and it was launched with its sister collection Serica Dot at Masiero's Milan showroom in Via Statuto for Milan Design Week in April 2026. Masiero has made lighting at Casale sul Sile, near Treviso, since 1981, and makes each piece through the full cycle, from the metalwork up, in its own workshops.

In the room

Serica works in numbers and at different heights. Three over a kitchen island, mixing the 40, 60 and 80cm lengths, give the rhythm Masiero intended; a row along a banquette or a bar marks out each table with a pool of light. A single 60cm or 80cm pendant hangs either side of a bed in place of a bedside lamp, or in a narrow hallway where a wider shade would crowd the space. Each cable runs up to 300cm, so the tubes can be stepped down through a double-height space.

Choose deep black with metal details for a graphic line against a pale wall; choose a fully electroplated finish where you want the tube itself to glow, champagne and golden bronze warmest, dark nickel the most urban.
