Lustralis is built from curtains of slender vertical stems, alternating painted pure brass with transparent borosilicate glass, hung close together from arcs and straight runs of galvanised metal. Opaque brass alternates with clear glass, so a ring of Lustralis reads as a deep fringe of gold and light rather than as a fitting. Masiero says the collection grew from the energy of contrasting materials and the way they merge and blur into one another.

The system is modular. Arcs from 50 to 200cm, straight sections of 50 and 100cm and 20cm corners combine into rings, ovals and rounded rectangles, in single, double and triple arrangements, all 40cm deep and finished in G18 brushed brass. Lustralis was designed by MasieroLab, Masiero's own design studio, and shown with the 2025 collections at Masiero's Milan showroom in Via Statuto for Milan Design Week in April 2025. It belongs to the Atelier line. Masiero has made lighting at Casale sul Sile, near Treviso, since 1981, and makes each piece through the full cycle, from the metalwork up, in its own workshops.

The two suspended versions hang the same fringe on steel cables. The SA1 SNG strings three 125cm arcs into a loose garland 200cm long, hung from nine cables. The SC1 DBL is a spiral: fourteen arcs from 50 to 200cm wind down through 350cm on 42 cables, a column of brass and glass for a double-height space.

In the room

The SA1 SNG belongs over a long dining table of 220 to 260cm or a run of tables in a restaurant, the arcs set at a height that keeps sightlines clear across the table. The SC1 DBL is made for volume: a stairwell, a double-height entrance hall, a hotel lobby or the void of an atrium, where its 350cm drop needs a ceiling of around 5.5m or more to leave comfortable headroom beneath. At 167kg it needs a fixing designed for the load.

Made by Masiero in Casale sul Sile, Treviso.
