Simplicissimus 360 Chandelier

Simplicissimus 360 is the plain Venetian chandelier: a ribbed blown glass column with a bowl, a set of curving arms and dishes for the lamps, and no flowers, leaves or crests. The maker calls the collection sober, and the name is fair. It relies on proportion and on the glass, and for that reason it is the best way to buy a single strong colour.

Nineteen glass options are shown above, each a sample from the maker's own chart. Sky is a clear, cool blue. Ottanio goes to a dark teal, Rosso Corsa is a strong red and Citron a sharp yellow. Seta is a soft satin white. Gold is flecked with gold throughout, so it glitters when lit, and Clear is the most formal. Because the shape is so simple, the same model looks classical in Clear and contemporary in Chartreuse or Wisteria.

The 6-light at Ø75cm suits a dining table for four to six, and the 8-light at Ø95cm a table for eight, each on a drop of 90 to 150cm. The 12-light at Ø110cm spreads wide and low at 90cm high, so it works under a modest ceiling in a larger room. The 15-light and 24-light are two-tier, and need more height: the 24-light is Ø120cm, 110cm high and 40kg. The 5-light at Ø65cm is the size for a bedroom. Frames come in gold or nickel, and the choice of polished or brushed is confirmed in your specification.
