Toffee Chandelier

Toffee is a Rezzonico-style chandelier in clear art glass, trimmed in pastels and scattered with flowers of multicoloured glass paste. The structure is wide and flat. Each lamp stands in a white sleeve inside a ruffled glass rim, the rims line up to form a single horizontal band, and a crest of curling stems and flowers climbs above it. Below hang small bells and ribbed leaves.

The flowers are the detail to look at closely. The glass paste is marbled, pink running into blue and amber in one petal, and it stands out against clear ribbed leaves. On the polychrome version the trim also changes between sizes in the maker's photographs: pink and green on the 6-light, amber and pale blue on the 8-light, pink and pale blue on the 10-light, pink and amber on the 12-light. If one mix matters to a scheme, settle it at specification. The clear and gold line carries what the maker calls a 24kt gold finish. Gold and plain Clear complete the list.

Sizes run in even steps. The 6-light is Ø80cm with a shortest drop of 100cm, so over a table it needs a 2.5m ceiling, and 3.1m to walk under. The 8-light, at Ø90cm, needs 2.6m and 3.2m. The 10-light, at Ø100cm, needs 2.65m and 3.25m. The 12-light, at Ø110cm, needs 2.75m and 3.35m. The two-tier version is Ø120cm and 140cm tall, needing 3.05m over a table or 3.65m to walk beneath, and at 45kg its fixing should be checked. A round table of about 120cm suits the 6-light, and a table for eight the 12-light.
