Galliano Chandelier

Galliano fits a great deal of glass into a small diameter. The version photographed here is only Ø40cm across and 60cm tall, yet it carries six lamps, a crown of broad leaves with scalloped edges, rosettes on the joints and a run of pendants beneath. Multiforme describes the collection as a combination of decorative and structural elements, and in the detail shots the two are hard to separate, because the leaves grow from the same joints that carry the arms.

Most of the colour sits in the trim. Clear and gold puts gold flecks through the leaves and cups. Graphite, clear and gold is the darkest choice, with smoke-toned bowls and gold rosettes. Clear and polychrome brings in flowers of glass paste, shown here in rose, and gold glass warms the whole structure. The maker's chart also lists blue, amethyst, acacia and primavera green trims, which the studio can confirm at specification.

The Ø40cm and Ø50cm versions share a drop of 75 to 125cm, so both work under a 2.4m ceiling in a bedroom, a dressing room or above a round table of about 100cm. To walk beneath them, allow a ceiling of 2.85m. The Ø40cm takes G9 lamps and weighs 6kg, against 15kg for the Ø50cm. At Ø80cm, the 10-light suits a round table of 120 to 140cm or a rectangular table for six. Its shortest drop is 95cm, so over a table it needs a ceiling of about 2.45m. The 6-light with crest has the same dimensions, with fewer lamps for a room that needs less light.

Multiforme is a manufactory of art glass lighting based at Trebaseleghe, in the Veneto.
