Aura 2391/70 Pendant

Aura is a single horizontal ring, 70cm across and just 5cm deep. A band of amber krek glass, set as a run of textured segments, is held in a slim satin gold frame, so from below it reads as a halo of warm light and from the side it almost disappears.

It is designed by Italamp Studio, the company's in-house team, and its strength is economy: one ring, one glass, and no lamp in view, so the glass is all you see. The krek glass breaks the light into a pattern of brighter and darker facets around the ring, and the amber tone warms the 2700K output further, a light that suits timber and stone interiors.

In the room, the 70cm ring suits a round table of about 120 to 150cm, a square dining table for four, or a hallway or landing where the ceiling is too low for a chandelier. The drop adjusts from 10 to 100cm on electrical cable. Italamp's own photographs show Aura hung in groups of different diameters at staggered heights, a composition that works over a sofa, a long table or a stairwell; the 70 combines with the 55 and the 90 in the same glass. The integrated 40W module gives 4,800 lumens at a colour rendering over 90, enough to be the main light in a dining room, and both TRIAC and push dimming are included as standard. Italamp also makes the ring in satin bronze with amber krek, or satin silver with transparent krek glass for a cooler scheme.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has designed and made lighting since 1975 from its base at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
