Goblin Pendant

A single stack of blown glass, hung from a polished metal cup. The Goblin pendant is 65cm long and Ø25cm at its widest, and within that length the glass changes several times: a ribbed capsule, a sphere set with glass studs, a collar of spikes, and a wide vessel at the bottom that holds the lamp.

The three examples photographed differ in their parts as well as their colour. One, in Smoke, ends in a tall bell with a finely textured surface. Another, also in Smoke, ends in a ribbed dome and has glass drops hanging from the ceiling cup. The third, in the straw colour Pagliesco, ends in a flattened globe that leaves the lamp in view. The composition is agreed at specification. The glass can also be Noce, Moka, clear, clear and gold, or white, clear and gold, and the metal polished nickel or polished gold.

The drop is fixed at 65cm, so the ceiling decides where it goes. Under 2.4m the glass stops at 1.75m, which is 1m above a dining table and 85cm above a 90cm kitchen island. A row of three along an island shows off the differences between them. To walk beneath one you need a ceiling of 2.75m, which makes it a choice for a tall hall or landing. It takes one E27 lamp and weighs 4kg, so no special fixing is required.
