Serenade Wall Light

Serenade's wall light keeps only what it needs. A shallow ribbed bowl sits against the wall, and two arms leave it in a low S-curve, each ending in a flat disc of glass with a metal stem and a shade above. A small elliptical pendant hangs below the bowl, and it is the only decoration Multiforme permits itself in the family. The photographs here show the 2-light; the 1-light is smaller and narrower.

The shades are handmade cotonette lined with PVC, and the choice of white or ivory cotton is settled at specification. In Noce, the glass photographed here, the ribs darken where the glass thickens, as the close views of the bowl and arm show. Pagliesco is a straw tone, Smoke the cooler choice for a grey or stone wall, and Aubergine the darkest. Clear, gold, and white and gold complete the chart. The stems are nickel in these photographs and can also be gold.

The 1-light is only 15cm wide, which makes it the piece for a narrow pier between windows or a run along a passage, although it projects 30cm. The 2-light is 40cm wide and 25cm deep, and both stand 40cm high and weigh no more than 3kg. Because the shade hides the lamp, the light is comfortable at seated eye level, so a pair of 2-lights works either side of a bed or a sofa. In a room with a Serenade chandelier, the arms and discs match, so choose one glass for both.
