Light of Love Wall Light

Nicola Grandesso's Light of Love is a flock of doves in frosted art glass. Each bird has a long, pointed tail and holds a lamp inside its body, so the whole bird glows white when lit. On the wall light, one or two birds perch on a slim curved bar of brushed gold or dark burnished brass, as if they had just landed.

The 1-bird version is 55cm wide and the 2-bird 65cm, both 25cm high and 18cm from the wall, so they are easily shallow enough for a landing or a corridor. Each bird's long tail extends beyond the bar, which gives the fitting more width than its 2 to 3kg suggests. The G9 lamp sits inside the frosted body and cannot be seen.

Hang the 2-bird version above a bed in place of a pair of lamps, or use a pair of 1-bird fittings with the birds facing each other either side of a mirror. In a hallway they look best at a little above eye level, against a dark wall, as the maker photographs them. Because the glass is lit from inside, the birds still read clearly in a dark room with nothing else on.
