Kia Ora takes the form of a Rezzonico chandelier, with its flat, spreading structure and open arms, and fills it with colour. Clear blown glass is trimmed in ruby and light blue, then hung with flowers and small bells in polychrome glass paste. The wall light keeps all of that in a two-arm fitting, 40cm wide, 50cm high and 25cm from the wall.
It weighs 3kg, so the glass is fine and open rather than heavy. A central blown spine carries a stack of ruffled collars in light blue, with a small ruby and blue pendant beneath. The two arms curve out either side to hold E14 lamps.
Use it to carry a Kia Ora chandelier around a room, in the same glass and frame, usually in pairs either side of a fireplace or a mirror. It also works alone on a landing where a chandelier will not fit but the colour is wanted. Because the wall behind shows through the clear glass, a plain painted wall suits it far better than wallpaper.
Multiforme is a manufactory of art glass lighting based at Trebaseleghe, in the Veneto.
