Goblin Table Lamp

The Goblin table lamp builds its base from separate pieces of blown glass threaded up a central rod. In the straw version, a ribbed foot rises to a smooth globe, then a column of sharp amber spikes, then a wide disc set with studs, and finally a small quilted bud held in glass petals. Nothing repeats, and the base is worth looking at with the lamp switched off.

A drum shade sits above all this and keeps the lamp out of sight. It is Italian handmade cotonette with a PVC lining, shown in ivory in the maker's photographs, and the shade colour is confirmed at specification. Pagliesco, the straw colour, stays pale and lets the light of the room through the glass. Moka is much darker, and its studs turn almost black against the brown. Noce, Smoke, clear, clear and gold, and white, clear and gold complete the options, on polished nickel or polished gold.

It stands 75cm tall, with the shade Ø40cm across. On a 75cm console the top of the shade sits at 1.5m. A shade that wide overhangs a narrow console, so give it a surface at least 40cm deep, or a bedside table of about 60cm. A pair at either end of a sideboard makes the most of the base, and the same glass can be carried into a Goblin pendant over a nearby table. It takes one E27 lamp.
