Dancer Pendant

The maker's reference for Dancer is the fringe of 1920s fashion. A metal band carries a curtain of thin glass strips, then a line of small faceted pendants, then tapered drops that run from a fine stem to a heavy bulb. It comes in three forms. The Round is a ring, Ø80cm and 50cm tall. The Linear is a 170cm band, 40cm deep, bent into a shallow S so that the fringe rises and falls along its length. The Tall winds the same fringe down a spiral, Ø75cm and 215cm high.

Smoke is the glass in most of the photographs: silvery in the strips, dark in the bulbs. Tangerine is streaked orange and red. Frosted turns everything white, with etched drops, and the maker pairs it with burnished brass. Gold is the fourth, and it is not offered with nickel. The frame is otherwise polished or brushed gold, burnished brass or polished nickel.

The Round, on a drop of 60 to 140cm, suits a round table of 120 to 150cm, and needs a 2.7m ceiling to walk beneath. The Linear, on 70 to 140cm, suits a table of 240 to 280cm or a kitchen island, and needs 2.8m to walk beneath. In a 2.4m room both hang at a drop of 90cm over a dining table. The Tall has a drop of 215 to 350cm, so walking beneath takes at least 4.25m, and at 64kg the fixing should be checked first. The maker shows it in a stair hall under a roof lantern.
