Caesar Wall Light

The 3-light Caesar sconce is photographed in its most decorated glass, and at wall height it can be studied closely. Coral cups with aquamarine collars carry the lamps, a glass flame in pink and blue stands at the top, and flowers of glass paste sit against feathered leaves with toothed edges. The body between them is clear blown art glass with gold running through the ribs.

That polychrome version is the one to choose if the wall light is the event in the room. For something quieter, clear and gold keeps the same leaves and ribbing without the colour, and clear with acacia trim holds its colour to the edges. Gold glass is streaked with gold throughout. Frosted takes the reflections away and leaves the outline.

All three versions stand 50cm high. The 1-light is 25cm wide and projects 30cm. The 2-light is 40cm wide and, at 25cm, is the shallowest of the three, so it is the one for a passage. The 3-light is 50cm wide and projects 30cm. The photographs here show the 3-light only. A pair of 3-lights works either side of a chimneypiece or a pier mirror, and a run of 2-lights suits a long gallery. At 5kg, the largest needs no special fixing on a sound wall. In a dining room, choosing the same glass as a Caesar chandelier keeps the room in one colour.
