Serica Composition

Serica's compositions gather Marco Zito's slender tubes, each Ø2.5cm and topped with the sphere and dome of his Nappe tassels, into groups of three to 54 on a single canopy. Mixing the three lengths, 40, 60 and 80cm, the tubes hang at stepped heights so a group reads as a rhythm of vertical lines rather than a fitting. Nappe began with the tassels that tie back the curtains of Venetian palaces; Serica, from the Latin for silk, pares that ornament back to a line.

Every composition is offered in ten finishes: a matt deep black body with brushed details in champagne, golden bronze, copper, pure gold or dark nickel, or the whole tube electroplated in one of those five brushed metals. The LED in the base of each tube throws its light downward, so a composition lights the surface below it and leaves the room above calm. Marco Zito's Serica was launched at Masiero's Milan showroom in Via Statuto for Milan Design Week in April 2026. Masiero has made lighting at Casale sul Sile, near Treviso, since 1981, and makes each piece through the full cycle, from the metalwork up, in its own workshops.

In the room

The long cobble canopies follow a table: the seven-light C7 CB 120 suits a dining table of 200 to 240cm, the ten-light C10 CB 160 one of 260cm or more. The round pebble canopies, Ø30 to Ø100cm, suit a round table, an entrance hall or the turn of a stair, and the 13-light C13 PB 100 drops up to 380cm through a stairwell. Cluster 11 and Cluster 39 are columns of light for a double-height hall; Cluster 28 runs 446cm along a reception desk or a long banquette; Cluster 22 and Cluster 54 fill a hotel lobby or atrium ceiling.

Deep black with metal details draws the sharpest lines against a pale ceiling. A fully electroplated finish turns each tube into a glint of metal, warmest in champagne or golden bronze.
