Angel Falls

Angel Falls is a flight of handmade crystal figures, caught in the moment of falling. The British architect and designer Nigel Coates, known for an unorthodox approach to design, created it for Terzani: small crystal angels, each on its own fine cord, hung at different heights so that the whole group reads as one moment of descent. Terzani leaves the question open. What caused the angels to fall is for whoever looks up to decide.

It is lit with restraint. Dimmable GU10 LED lamps in the canopy shine down through the figures, so the crystal catches the light along every limb and the angels glow against the room around them. Dimmed low, the figures hold the light while the room around them stays dark.

Angel Falls belongs where people gather and look up: over a round dining table, in the well of a staircase, in a double-height hall or a hotel lobby, or anywhere a room needs a single piece that starts a conversation. The seven-angel version, on a Ø32cm canopy, suits a smaller table, a landing or a quiet corner. Twelve, eighteen and twenty-four angels share a Ø55cm round canopy and grow denser as the number rises, the right range for a round table for six to ten. The thirty-six-angel version hangs from a 120 x 60cm rectangular canopy, so it follows the line of a long dining table or fills a stairwell from above. The overall height is set on site, up to 190cm as standard, and Terzani can design bespoke groups and wire lengths for larger spaces.
