Soscik Chandelier

Soscik is the classical chandelier remade in chain. Length upon length of fine metal chain is interlaced over a frame using traditional artisan techniques, gathered at the crown, held by a polished band at the waist and then let fall beneath it in deep, looping swags. The silhouette is that of a great basket chandelier. There is no crystal anywhere on it.

Nicolas Terzani designed Soscik in-house for Terzani, and it shows the company's habit of taking a familiar form and rebuilding it in an unexpected material. Each finish pairs polished and brushed plating, so the band reads crisp and bright while the chain has a softer, textile sheen: gold, champagne and nickel, with a fourth option in brushed bronze.

Lit, the chain becomes the lampshade. Dimmable G9 LEDs inside the body (eight, twelve or fourteen depending on size) shine through the curtain of chain, so the whole piece glows like woven metal and the swags below catch the light at their edges. The effect is dramatic and warm at once.

In the room

The small chandelier, 72cm across and 95cm tall, suits a dining room, a principal bedroom or a dressing room with a generous ceiling, and its suspension adjusts on site between 115 and 195cm overall. Over a dining table it needs a table of around 180cm or more to sit in proportion.

The medium and large are pieces for double-height halls, stairwells, hotel lobbies and restaurants. The medium is 100cm across and 245cm overall; the large is 145cm across, 180cm tall in the body and 300cm overall. Their overall height is fixed at the factory, so it is agreed with you before production, and at 65kg and 133kg they need a ceiling fixing planned with your contractor from the outset.

For rooms without the height, the same design is made as a ceiling light, listed separately.
