Soscik Ceiling Light

Soscik is the classical chandelier remade in chain. Length upon length of fine metal chain is interlaced over a frame using traditional artisan techniques, gathered at the crown, held by a polished band at the waist and then let fall beneath it in deep, looping swags. The silhouette is that of a great basket chandelier. There is no crystal anywhere on it.

Nicolas Terzani designed Soscik in-house for Terzani, and it shows the company's habit of taking a familiar form and rebuilding it in an unexpected material. Each finish pairs polished and brushed plating, so the band reads crisp and bright while the chain has a softer, textile sheen: gold, champagne and nickel, with a fourth option in brushed bronze.

The ceiling light keeps all of that and brings it close to the ceiling. The chain is gathered into a shallow, swagged dome that sits directly on the ceiling, lit from within by dimmable G9 LEDs (eight, ten or twelve depending on size), so the whole surface glows like draped metal fabric.

In the room

This is Soscik for rooms where a hanging chandelier would crowd the space: a bedroom or dressing room, a dining room with a standard ceiling, a hallway or landing, or a hotel suite and restaurant where sightlines matter. As a guide, the small (Ø72cm, 35cm deep) suits a bedroom or landing, the medium (Ø100cm, 45cm deep) a dining or living room, and the large (Ø145cm, 60cm deep) a generous reception room or lobby with the height to take a 60cm projection.

The medium and large weigh 36kg and 65kg, so the ceiling fixing should be planned with your contractor before installation. For taller spaces, the same design is made as a suspended chandelier, listed separately.
