Argent Mon Bijou Multi-Light Pendant

Argent, Mon Bijou is the second chapter of Argent, made by Terzani with Dodo Arslan a decade after the original. Each cluster is a sphere of stainless steel discs around Ø20cm across, shaped by hand, and Terzani is open about where it looked for the idea: the fashion of Paco Rabanne, the work of Verner Panton, the mirrored art of Julio Le Parc and the light of the Italian seaside.

The result is jewellery for a ceiling. Every cluster carries its own small LED module, so the light starts inside the sphere and passes between the discs before it reaches the room, and the walls around it fill with flecks of reflected light. The gold, sunset rose and champagne finishes are a durable PVD coating over the stainless steel, so the colour is part of the surface rather than a paint.

The multi-light pieces are built from that one cluster as a modular system, and they divide into two families. The round versions hang three, five or seven spheres from a round canopy in a falling cascade, from 66cm to around 158cm deep: a stairwell, the corner of a double-height room or the space beside a bed is where they make most sense. The fifteen-light round cluster gathers its spheres into one large, dense form for an entrance hall or a lobby. The linear versions run three to twelve spheres along a linear canopy in a loose wave, made for a dining table, a kitchen island or a bar counter, and the longer pieces give a long table the sense of a single, continuous glow. Caspen will check the canopy length and drop against your table or void before you order, and the cables can be shortened on site.

Light output builds with the number of spheres, from 522 lm for three to 2,610 lm for fifteen, all dimmable on a standard mains dimmer, in 3000K or the warmer 2700K.
