Na-ar is a family of slim cylinders of fluted brass, Ø3cm, ribbed along their length in vertical lines that recall the Italian fluted pattern called cannetè. Each tube ends in one of three bevelled cuts, and the LED inside throws its light down out of that open end. Hung in groups, the light leaving one tube catches the ribs of its neighbours, so the reflections shift as you walk round it. The name is the Persian word for the colour of fire.

The design is by the duo Studio Scatter D, who started from the striped surface of brass, a finish with industrial roots, and worked it with Masiero's craftsmen. The brass is painted and then brushed by hand for a two-tone effect, in two finishes made only for Na-ar: Mars dust, a warm earth tone, and pale gold. Na-ar was launched at Masiero's Milan showroom in Via Statuto for Milan Design Week in April 2026. Masiero has made lighting at Casale sul Sile, near Treviso, since 1981, and makes each piece through the full cycle, from the metalwork up, in its own workshops.

The wall light and table lamp take the same fluted brass into a room's quieter corners. The A3 sets three tubes side by side, 70cm tall, and lights both up and down from their cut ends, so it washes the wall in two directions. The TL is a single tube, 41.5cm high, cut away at the side like a niche in a wall, with the light falling softly out of the opening; it dims on its own button.

In the room

Use the A3 in pairs either side of a fireplace, a bed or a doorway, with the centre about 160 to 170cm from the floor, or alone on a stair landing. The TL is narrow enough, at Ø5cm, for a bedside table, a desk or a shelf, and pairs naturally with the Na-ar pendants over a dining table. Mars dust gives a darker, earthier glow on plaster and timber; pale gold is lighter and brighter on white walls.
