Lustralis Ceiling Light

Lustralis is built from curtains of slender vertical stems, alternating painted pure brass with transparent borosilicate glass, hung close together from arcs and straight runs of galvanised metal. Opaque brass alternates with clear glass, so a ring of Lustralis reads as a deep fringe of gold and light rather than as a fitting. Masiero says the collection grew from the energy of contrasting materials and the way they merge and blur into one another.

The system is modular. Arcs from 50 to 200cm, straight sections of 50 and 100cm and 20cm corners combine into rings, ovals and rounded rectangles, in single, double and triple arrangements, all 40cm deep and finished in G18 brushed brass. Lustralis was designed by MasieroLab, Masiero's own design studio, and shown with the 2025 collections at Masiero's Milan showroom in Via Statuto for Milan Design Week in April 2025. It belongs to the Atelier line. Masiero has made lighting at Casale sul Sile, near Treviso, since 1981, and makes each piece through the full cycle, from the metalwork up, in its own workshops.

The ceiling versions fix close to the ceiling, 40cm deep, with their driver recessed into the ceiling void, so the brass and glass fringe hangs directly below a flat plane.

In the room

Match the outline to the table or room beneath. The O4 SNG, an elongated oval 279 by 77cm, runs the length of a dining table for ten to twelve. The T2 SNG, 200 by 100cm, suits a table for eight. The round Q2 SNG, three concentric rings Ø150cm across, centres a round table, a bar or an entrance hall. The larger forms, up to the 700cm T1 DBL, are for ballrooms, hotel restaurants and lobbies, where the double and triple arrangements fill a coffered or domed ceiling. These are heavy pieces, 76 to 108kg for the priced models, so the fixing needs to be planned with your structural engineer or contractor before the ceiling is closed.
