Tea 2392/P Floor Lamp

Tea is a floor lamp drawn like a bouquet. From a single metal base, five stems of different heights rise to 180cm, and each ends in a sphere of frosted blown glass. Italamp's own description is a simple design that recalls a bouquet of flowers, and that is exactly how it stands in a room: loose, slightly asymmetric, more like something arranged than something installed.

Tea comes from Italamp Studio, the company's in-house design team, and belongs to the 2392 family that also includes the Teo ceiling light. Each globe holds its own 3W G9 LED bulb, so the light comes from five soft points at different heights rather than from one shade. TRIAC dimming is included, which works with a standard phase-cut dimmer, and Casambi wireless control is available on request.

Its natural place is a corner, where the stems can spread and the globes light two walls at once. That is how it is used at the Hilton in Milan, where THDP's renovation placed Tea floor lamps in the corners of the hotel. In a house it suits the corner of a living room beside a sofa, the end of a hallway or a bedroom with a reading chair. The base is 47cm across, so allow a clear floor area of about 50cm.

Two finishes: gold nickel stems, which catch the light and read warm against plaster and timber, or matt black stems, which almost disappear at night and leave the five globes hanging in the air. Both sit on a charcoal grey base. Tea weighs 15kg and is stable without fixing.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
