Rosè Portable Table Lamp

Rosè is a wine glass made into a lamp. A chalice of blown glass, given a metallic coating that shades from colour at the rim to clear at the base, sits on a slender stem and a round foot, with a white glass diffuser inside holding the light. Italamp calls it a luminous chalice. This is the cordless version: 36cm tall, with a rechargeable battery that Italamp gives eight hours of use, and touch dimming.

Rosè was designed by Danilo De Rossi, an architect and designer who has worked in Venice since the 1980s and has been Italamp's art director since 2016, and the collection won an IDA Gold Award in 2020. The same chalice appears across the family, from single pendants to a bespoke cascade of Rosè pendants that Italamp made for the stairwell of a private residence in Padua.

Without a cable it can go where a table lamp usually cannot: the middle of a dining table, a bar counter, a bookshelf or a bedside without a socket. Two or three down a long dining table give a low, candle-like line of light at seated eye level. A 2.2W LED gives 180 lumens at 3000K with a colour rendering over 90, a gentle light meant for atmosphere rather than reading, and it dims by touch.

Rose gold coating on iron grey is the warmest; titanium on iron grey is smoky and cool; the gold edition, gold coated glass on a shiny gold stem and foot, is the most decorative of the three.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
