Rosè 3050/AP1 Wall Light

The Rosè wall light holds a single bowl of blown glass, shaped like a wine glass, upright on a short arm from a round wall plate, with the cable looping beneath. The lamp sits inside the bowl, so the glass glows around a bright core, and the coating decides the character: clear transparent glass on chrome, or titanium-coated glass on iron grey, which reads as smoky metal by day and turns translucent when lit.

Danilo De Rossi, the Venetian architect who has been Italamp's art director since 2016, took the classic silhouette of the wine glass and reinterpreted it as a lamp. The collection is a tribute to rosé wine, and its metallic finishes recall the shades the wine takes in the glass. On the wall the idea is at its most concentrated: one glass on one arm.

In the room, the AP1 is 30cm tall, 13cm wide and projects 16cm, small enough for a pair either side of a bed or a bathroom mirror outside the splash zone, or a run along a corridor. Mount the bowl a little above eye level in a corridor, lower beside a bed. It takes one 3W G9 LED lamp, a soft accent light rather than a reading light, and TRIAC dimming is included as standard, with Casambi on request. Transparent glass on chrome is the lightest and most neutral; titanium on iron grey sits well with dark walls and stone. The same glasses come as a floor lamp and as single and clustered pendants, so the coating can follow through a scheme.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has designed and made lighting since 1975 from its base at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
