Munetta Portable Table Lamp

Munetta is a cordless lamp in shaped blown glass: a tall dome shaded from clear to midnight blue, with a curl of crystal at its crown and a white glass diffuser inside, on an iron grey base. The fine ribbing of the dome catches the light in horizontal lines, and the lamp dims by touch.

It belongs to Danilo De Rossi's Muna family, his moon-themed collection for Italamp, where he has been art director since 2016. Italamp introduces Munetta with a few lines of verse about stopping a moment in the moonlight. Taken plainly, it is a small moon you can carry: rechargeable, with no cable once charged, so it goes where the evening goes, from the dining table to a bookshelf to a bedside.

In the room, Munetta is 26cm tall and 11cm across, and weighs 1kg. Italamp's photographs show it in pairs on a shelf, alone among books, and on a polished dining table. The integrated 2.2W module gives 250 lumens of warm 3000K light at a colour rendering over 90, enough for a table setting or a reading corner at low level. Dimming is by touch sensor, and it charges through a Micro-B connection.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has designed and made lighting since 1975 from its base at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
