Gocce 587/SV Pendant

Gocce hangs a white glass sphere against a slim vertical capsule, with a small decorative metal sphere set higher up on the other side, so the glass seems to float beside the structure rather than hang from it. Italamp says the collection was inspired by crystal balls and the coloured bubbles of childhood, reimagined as minimal design pieces. The capsule is a polymer, in glossy lava red, matte midnight grey or glossy white, and the small sphere matches the frame.

Gocce was designed by Virginia Cei, born in Pisa in 1992, whose first product for Italamp in 2021 was selected the following year for 'Ten Women Designers', the travelling exhibition organised by the Fondazione Pio Manzù. The SV is the vertical single pendant, 22cm wide and 46cm tall, weighing only 1.6kg.

Gocce is made for small spaces and repeated use: a pair either side of a bed, a run of three over a kitchen island or a breakfast bar, or a single pendant beside an armchair. The drop adjusts from 10 to 100cm, so the pendant hangs 56 to 146cm below the ceiling; over a bedside table, with the sphere about 50 to 60cm above the top, it suits most ceilings from 2.4 to 2.9m. An 11W LED module gives 1,100 lumens at 2700K and a colour rendering over 90, diffused by the glass. Unusually at this size, DALI dimming is included as standard, with 1-10V or Casambi on request.

Glossy lava red is the one to choose when the pendant should be seen; matte midnight grey almost disappears against a dark wall; glossy white is quietest of all.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
