Charles 724/AP Wall Light

Charles 724/AP is the wall light of the Charles family: two curved bands of gold nickel, one above the other, each hung with a fringe of etched crystal pendants. It is 30cm wide and projects 15cm from the wall, a half-round of crystal that sits close to the surface.

Two E14 LED lamps sit behind the crystal, so the pendants are lit from within and glow rather than glitter, the same effect as the Charles chandeliers in a smaller form. TRIAC dimming is included, and Casambi control is available.

Charles is designed by Italamp Studio, the company's in-house team. The family runs from this wall light to round chandeliers of 60cm to 120cm and a 110cm linear chandelier, all in gold nickel with etched crystal, so the wall light can be specified to match a Charles over the table.

In the room, it works in pairs. Either side of a mirror, a fireplace, a sideboard or a bed head, fit the centres about 160cm to 170cm from the floor and at least 15cm beyond the edges of whatever they frame. At 21cm high it also suits a corridor or a landing, spaced every 2m to 3m along one wall. Two 6W lamps give a soft, decorative level of light rather than task light, so in a bedroom pair them with reading lamps.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting in Italy since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
