Caterina 4026/LG Table Lamp

Caterina is a table lamp with a two-part glass head. A white glass cup sits above an olive green glass bell, joined by a brushed gold collar and held out on a slender brushed gold arm that rises from a round base. The light passes through both glasses, so the lamp glows white above and green below, a small, precise object at 56cm tall.

Caterina was designed by THDP, the architecture and interior design studio founded in 2004 by Nicholas J Hickson and Manuela Mannino, with offices in Italy and London and a practice built on hotel and residential projects. The hotel thinking shows: the lamp is compact, stable and made to sit by a bed or a chair, and THDP has used the family in its own work, including the 2021 renovation of the Hotel Mediterraneo in Sorrento.

At 22cm across and 56cm tall, it is the right size for a bedside table, where a pair either side of a bed works well, as in the Galimberti Nino showroom in Milan, or for a desk, a console or the end of a bar. A 6.4W LED module gives 740 lumens at a colour rendering over 90, enough to read by at a bedside, and push dimming is included, so it can be dimmed at the lamp itself.

Olive green and white with brushed gold is the classic combination; Italamp also makes it with agatha glass, a warm amber, in place of the green. The family includes a wall light and a floor lamp in the same glass.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
