Regolo 8146/AP Wall Light

Regolo 8146/AP is a wall light drawn as a single vertical line: an aluminium bar 100cm tall and only 4cm wide, with an opaline diffuser running its length and a small rectangular plate of marble set into the bar near its foot. The marble is Calacatta gold on the matte champagne and matte black versions, and black Marquinia on warm grey.

Italamp describes Regolo as minimal, built from straight lines and geometric shapes, with marble set against the lightness of the aluminium. On the wall the effect is closer to a drawn line than to a light fitting: the bar washes the surface around it while the marble supplies the one note of weight and pattern.

Regolo is designed by Stefano Traverso, born in Genoa in 1973 and a graduate in industrial design of the Scuola Italiana Design in Padua, where he has taught since 2001; before working with Italamp he was at the studio of the architect and designer Enzo Berti.

In the room, Regolo works best in rhythm. The stair photograph Italamp uses shows two bars side by side at different heights, and that is the way to use it: a pair either side of a bed head or a doorway, a run along a corridor every 1.5m to 2m, or a stepped sequence up a staircase. At 100cm it suits a wall of standard height; where the wall is shorter or the space tighter, the 80cm Regolo 8146/APP keeps the same proportions. The integrated 14W module gives 1,540 lumens at a colour rendering above 90. At 1.5kg it is light and simple to fix.

The module is not dimmable as supplied.

Made in Italy by Italamp, which has made lighting in Italy since 1975 and is based at Cadoneghe, near Padua.
