Charles 724/110 Linear Chandelier

Charles 724/110X25 is the linear form of Italamp's Charles chandelier. A rectangular gold nickel frame, 110cm long and 25cm deep, carries tiers of etched crystal pendants around a satin methacrylate diffuser, and the whole piece hangs from steel rods finished in dark brown leather.

The construction explains the light. An integrated 58W LED module sits behind the satin diffuser, so the crystal is lit from inside and there are no exposed lamps to look into. The etched pendants soften what would otherwise be sparkle into an even glow along the full length of the body, with a colour rendering above 90.

Charles is drawn by Italamp Studio, the company's in-house design team, and runs through five sizes: rounds of 60, 80, 100 and 120cm and this rectangle. The leather on the suspension is the detail that separates it from a conventional tiered crystal chandelier, a tailored material set against cut crystal.

In the room, the 110cm body is made for a rectangular dining table or a kitchen island. Leave at least 30cm clear at each end and it sits well over a table of 170cm to 200cm; two can run end to end over a 3m table. The body is 28cm deep on a fixed 45cm rod, so on a 2.4m ceiling the lowest crystal ends roughly 90cm above a standard 75cm table, close to the ideal height for a dining pendant. At 6,800 lumens it can light a dining table on its own. The module is supplied non-dimmable, with TRIAC, 1-10V, DALI and Casambi versions available, so it can be specified into a lighting control system. The 724/AP wall light carries the same etched crystal, which lets one family run from the table to the walls.
