The Florentine architect Simone Micheli designed it for Terzani as a picture of how we live now, in paths that tangle and intertwine rather than run in straight lines, and every piece is shaped by hand by Terzani's artisans to its own random route, so no two are the same.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTiny G4 LED bulbs sit inside the tangle and can be placed anywhere along the line, so the light gathers where you choose. Lit, the open metal throws a second drawing across the walls and ceiling, a web of soft shadow lines that turns a plain room into part of the piece.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eNickel, black nickel, gold or copper plate. The copper is left to age naturally, so it deepens and changes over the years.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eIn the room\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe linear, about 135cm long, is the dining piece: hung low over a table of around 1.8 to 2.4 metres, or over a kitchen island, it reads as a line of light scribbled in the air, and the shadows fall across the table and the ceiling above. The vertical is the same tangle turned on end, a 135cm column of brass that suits a stairwell, a double-height hall, a tall window or the corner beside a staircase, with an overall height set on site between 150 and 235cm. The round, Ø50cm with five lights, is the compact form, for a round table, a hallway or a bedroom.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eDoodle is an atmospheric light, using small 2W bulbs: it glows and sparkles and draws on the walls, and it is best layered with discreet downlights where you need to work.
